Pneumococcal Vaccination Support Programme

Your surgery has prioritised you to reserve and book in for your pneumococcal vaccination. This interface allows you to have a pneumococcal vaccine reserved for you or to inform your healthcare team that you do not wish to receive this.

You have received a message to enable your personalised preferences to be prioritised in relation to this programme.

Would you like a pneumococcal vaccine?

The pneumococcal vaccine is given to all patients over the age of 65 or with a condition that makes them more susceptible to a pneumococcal infection. This reduces the number of people getting unwell from these infections and reduces the likelihood of outbreaks. It is encouraged that everyone who is eligible receives a pneumococcal vaccine.

The vaccine works by stimulating your body's immune system to produce antibodies that can recognise and fight off the pneumococcus virus. By getting vaccinated, you can significantly reduce your risk of getting sick, experiencing severe symptoms, and potentially spreading the virus to others. It's an important step in keeping yourself, your family and your community healthy especially during the winter season.

To allow your healthcare team to order and stock the correct number of vaccinations for this upcoming winter, we kindly ask that you provide your preference in relation to receiving a pneumococcal vaccine this year.

Additional Information

This vaccination is a one-time vaccination for most patients. Those at high risk will be offered this vaccination every five years.
